Horror books & their direction

The direction of horror books lately has been one of great progress and controversy. Much of the newer work coming out of the field is extreme horror, which as many of us know is controversial especially among the more literary fans of horror books. Bizarro fiction is also becoming increasingly popular, although bizarro horror is less controversial it isn't always a favorite among more literary groups. And as novels continue their selling dominance, publishers like Dark Regions books are continually releasing quality short story and poetry collections often being nominated or even winning Bram Stoker Awards, one of the most prestiguous awards in the field. However, the unfortunate reality is that many people simply read exclusively novels, despite the amount of quality fiction in the realm of short story collections.

Things probably won't start looking up for a while, at least not until the economy starts shaping up. Not to dive too far into politics, but it's very possible that universal healthcare would give the economy a significant boost. With much of the middle class no longer having to worry as much about healthcare costs, they'll have more money to spend on things like horror books. Clearly healthcare isn't the cure to all ills (no pun intended) but there's a good chance it will help significantly in the realm of horror books.

Some fear that the U.S. I say those statements are premature. Let us not forget the hurdles that the United States has defeated in the past. Sure, things on the international stage are much different than they were at that time. But is it too presumptuous to say that America still has a shot? Is it too presumptuous to claim that the United States won't be a Chinese controlled nation in fifty years? I don't think so. I think this country stands a fighting chance, we just need to do some major overhauls to our economic system and start rethinking a lot of old and outdated policies. If that were to happen my friends, rest assured, the sales for horror books would sky rocket and all of us would benefit as a result.

keep to release interesting and creative works. Until that day comes, keep your boots on, it's going to be a long march.
